Tips for Faculty & Staff

All of us at MSU are encouraged to support students' mental health, wellness, and overall well-being. The Faculty Committee for Student Mental Health has created a Faculty Guide for Student Mental Health. Student Success has also created Faculty & Staff Tools for Student Success to aid and empower our community in this endeavor. Additionally, the MSU Assist page can help faculty and staff direct students who may be in higher levels of distress.

There is HOPE & SUPPORT at MSU

A common contributor to suicidal thoughts and actions is untreated or undiagnosed depression. Many people don’t know that what they are experiencing is depression, or that effective treatment is available. Others who experience anxiety, substance use, other mental health disorders, and stressors due to life events also benefit from treatment and support.

Online Screening

MSU students have free access to an online, anonymous Mental Health Screening that helps you explore any symptoms you may have.

Self-Help Options

WellTrack provides informational and self-help modules on depression and anxiety, relaxation training, mood-tracking, and help with healthy sleep. Students get free access with their MSU NetID. Find WellTrack in your app store or at the WellTrack website.

Counseling, Medical, Substance Use, Well-Being

Counseling & Psychological Services provides free, confidential counseling.

Medical Services provides medical consultations and support for students who wish to manage medications locally or those who wish to consult about whether a medication could be helpful.

The Office of Health Advancement offers Wellness Coaching to those students who don’t have a mental health or counseling issue, but wish to gain support with wellness goals.

The INSIGHT Office and Center for Recovering Students offers support, assessment and treatment for students with substance use issues or those seeking substance-free activities and alternatives.

Comprehensive services including medical, counseling, nutrition, pharmacy, and dental are available to MSU students through University Health Partners.
