Michael Becker

Originally from eastern Montana, Michael Becker has been a professional journalist since 2005 and has experience as a writing teacher, reporter, copy editor, online editor and social media manager. He has a master's degree in English from Montana State University.

Anne Cantrell

Editor of Mountains & Minds magazine

Anne Cantrell is assistant director of the MSU News Service, where she covers the
College of Education, Health and Human Development and the MSU Library. Anne also
serves as editor of Mountains and Minds magazine and writes for the university's administration.
Anne has a master’s degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in English. She has
been a staff member in University Communications since 2006.

Skip Anderson
Communications Specialist
Covers: Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering
Skip is the primary liaison between MSU News Service and the Norm Asbjornson College
of Engineering. He is an award-winning journalist, having served as editor of three
weekly newspapers in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as a several publications and websites
at Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining MSU News Service, Skip served six years
as the communications specialist for the MSU’s Center for Biofilm Engineering. He
graduated with honors from Belmont University with a BA in Journalism.
Frankie Beer
Writer/Editor
Covers: College of Arts and Architecture, Gallatin College MSU, UIT, MSU Today
Prior to joining the MSU News Service, Frankie was a copy editor and page designer
for the Coeur d’Alene Press. She earned a bachelor's degree in multimedia journalism
from Washington State University, where she freelanced for regional newspapers, interned
for the WSU Libraries and helped run the student newspaper. She calls Washington home
but grew up across the United States as a “military brat.”
Reagan Cotton
Communications Specialist
Covers: College of Agriculture
Reagan is a writer and editor for the MSU News Service, where she covers the College
of Agriculture. Originally from Washington, Reagan has lived in Montana since 2013.
She holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and African American studies from the University
of Montana and has prior experience as a writer, reporter and editor for magazines
and newspapers around Montana and the Mountain West.

Isabel Hicks
Writer/Editor
Covers: Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Mark and Robyn Jones College
of Nursing
Originally from Denver, Isabel has lived in Bozeman for several years, reporting award-winning
stories for the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and Montana Free Press. She holds a journalism
and environmental studies degree from Colorado College.

Diana Setterberg
Communications Specialist
Covers: College of Letters and Science
Diana covers the College of Letters and Science and works to help with the college’s
communication needs. A native of Washington state, Diana has lived in Montana since
1993 and joined the News Service in 2022. She previously worked as a writer and editor
for newspapers in Billings, Butte and Belgrade. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications
from Washington State University.
