marcie reuer

Dr. Reuer is an Associate Teaching Professor focused on STEM Education and is the Director of Outreach and Engagement for the Department of Education.  Her research interests include K-12 rural STEM Education, the experiences of post-secondary STEM students from rural backgrounds and the changing landscape of teachers from alternative certification pathways.  She teaches K-8, 5-12 Science Methods courses, Rural Practicum, Residency Practicum, 3D’s of NGSS, Constructing Curriculum and Forensic Science for Teachers. 

Prior to becoming a faculty member at Montana State University, Dr. Reuer taught every grade of Science and Social Studies, kindergarten to 12th grade, in communities ranging in size from thirteen to five million people.  Her experiences with rural, remote and multi-grade teaching as well as serving as a rural school principal, inform her work co-leading the Rural Teacher Pathways Program in the Center for Research on Rural Education. 

Dr. Reuer is the treasurer of the Montana Science Teachers Association, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honor society for women educators, chair of Montana State University’s Department of Education Recruitment & Retention Committee and a proud alumnus of Montana State University & University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
