  • Do not swim if you have open wounds, infections, communicable diseases, or recent diarrhea (within the previous 14 days).
  • Shower before entering the pool.
  • Wear clean swim attire (no cutoffs, street clothes, undergarments, etc.).
  • Only approved flotation devices are allowed.
  • Circle swimming is required in all lap swim lanes that have more than two people in them.
  • Users are not permitted to swim repeated lengths of the pool underwater or participate in prolonged breath-holding.
  • Diving off the blocks or in the shallow end is prohibited. Starting block use is restricted to approved activities only.
  • No running, rough play, excessive noise, sitting, or hanging on walls, rims, or lane lines, spitting, spouting water, or nose blowing is allowed.
  • Anyone under the age of 16 must pass a swim test to enter the deep side of the pool. If they cannot pass the swim test, they must wear a life jacket in order to enter the deep end.

Vortex Pool

  • No jumping or diving into the Vortex Pool.
  • Floatation devices allowed at lifeguard’s discretion.
  • Guests with certain medical conditions (pregnancy, back/neck problems, heart conditions, motion sickness, etc.) are advised not to use the Vortex Pool.

Lightning Guidelines

Although the Campus Recreation pool is indoors, lifeguards are required to clear all users from the pool and pool deck if lightning is within 10 miles of the facility. In such cases, the area must be evacuated, and a 30-minute waiting period must pass before re-entry is permitted.  Each subsequent lightning strike within the 10-mile range resets the 30-minute timer. Once 30 minutes have elapsed without additional lightning, patrons will be allowed to return to the pool and pool area.
