Sara Rushing
Professor of political science, MSU family advocate
Sara Rushing is a political theorist whose work focuses on the intersection of ethics and politics. As a professor, her coursework weaves in both feminism and inclusivity. As a researcher, she employs feminist, queer and democratic theory to analyze questions of power, participation and identity. She cares deeply about the success of underserved students and faculty as evidenced by her advising of the Queer Straight Alliance, her role as co-director of the ADVANCE grant and her service as women's faculty caucus chair just to name a few. As one of MSU’s family advocates, she has put in countless hours to help promote a more work-life friendly campus environment and support students, faculty and staff through family-related life transitions. She is dedicated to improving conditions for women at MSU, ensuring gender diversity and equity to make for a more inclusive and robust intellectual community. Her work is improving the life of people on campus, and for that MSU will always be in her debt.
Her work ethic, her dedication to students, her incredible teaching talent and her commitment to the success of the university make Sara Rushing an outstanding Bobcat.
