Meta Newhouse

Meta Newhouse is a professor in graphic design at Montana State University. The former creative director of GroupBaronet in Dallas has designed work for Dallas County Community Colleges, the Dallas Symphony, Motorola and the American Heart Association. Her work has been recognized nationally and internationally in over 40 professional books, annuals and catalogs (PRINT, Communication Arts, AIGA, Graphis, HOW). Her poster work for social causes is in the permanent collection of several European art museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Musée des Arts de Décoratifs (the Louvre) in Paris and is currently recognized in the 70^th anniversary exhibition on the Declaration of Human Rights, sponsored by the United Nations. She is also the founding director of DSEL, the Design Sandbox of Engaged Learning, MSU’s award-winning, collaborative curricular initiative focused on bringing interdisciplinary opportunities to undergraduate students. DSEL’s mission is to do nothing short of transforming the educational experience at MSU by empowering students to apply design thinking to solve relevant problems. Newhouse chaired the Women’s Faculty Caucus from 2014-2016. Her passion for socially charged projects particularly on topics of climate change, racial and gender equity show through in her course creations and content.
