- Welcome and announcements
- Ariel Donohue: Academic Diversity Partners have identified metrics to track diversity and inclusion progress in the colleges
- Michael Brody: Provost Mokwa to address Faculty Senate on tenurable faculty numbers
- Approval of minutes from 9/22/21 – postponed for additions to attendance
- Discussion
- Update on Action 3.3.6 – Kristin Blackler, for Campus Sustainability Advisory Council
- Charge to adopt a campus sustainability plan, delayed to 2021 with Planning Council
and President’s endorsement. Adopted this Fall with leadership support of three broad
goals:
- Carbon neutral in all emissions categories by 2040
- Zero waste by 2035
- STARS Platinum certification by 2035 (metrics for all sustainability topics)
- CSAC undergoing a change in composition and charge, with seven members providing tactical recommendations and advice to President, task forces to emerge on implementation of the plan
- Questions and discussion on steepening the curve/moving up the target years for GHG; MSUAF activity on divesting from fossil fuels; role of faculty in this and subsequent planning and implementation
- Discussion after the meeting raised concerns that this framework is not responsive to the SP language in timing or detail.
- Charge to adopt a campus sustainability plan, delayed to 2021 with Planning Council
and President’s endorsement. Adopted this Fall with leadership support of three broad
goals:
- Update on Action 2.1.2 - Liz Shanahan, for Research Council
- Ad hoc committee of Research Council took on this action item. Difficult task, struggled to draw causal lines between MSU’s work and statewide outcomes
- Developed internal metrics that are externally facing, covering learning, discovery,
and engagement in each Grand Challenge area
- Might require enhancements to data collection
- Provide exemplars in addition to the quantitative metrics; highlight through awards
- Questions and discussion around undergraduate research measurement, graduate measurement, including information on student organizations, internships, and other student involvement in the Grand Challenge areas.
- Update on Action 1.2.4 - Craig Ogilvie, for University Graduate Council
- Career data is pivotal to understanding the career paths that graduates pursue so that programs can be evaluated and revised if necessary; Academic Analytics provides Alumni Insight
- Departments are queued up to review the placement data and redesign their program offerings this Spring, aligned with PC and President’s endorsed delay in timeline
- Questions and discussion about privacy and use of placement data
- Goal 1.1. Update - Chris directed members to the plan website for the Goal 1.1. Update and offered to discuss one-on-one
- Update on Action 3.3.6 – Kristin Blackler, for Campus Sustainability Advisory Council
