The Praxis® Subject Assessment represents a required measure of content prior to graduation from the MSU teacher education program, beginning with catalog year 23-24.  In addition to demonstrating content proficiency, the Praxis® is mandated for licensure in many states, particularly states bordering Montana.  MAT candidates take the Praxis® as part of the admissions process.  Teacher Education Program students will complete the appropriate exam the semester before submitting a student teaching application (i.e. fall 2024 for fall 2025 student teaching).  Final scores must meet Montana Assessment of Content Knowledge (MACK) standards, and tests can be repeated prior to student teaching placement until that score is achieved.  For verification purposes, each test taker will authorize MSU to view these scores via the Educational Testing Service (ETS) permission settings.

Access score(s) via the Praxis® account free of charge.  View scores by logging onto the Praxis® account and navigating to "score report."  Scores should be accessible in 30 days or less from the test date.  Print the score report immediately and keep for future reference.

From time to time, the Educational Testing Service® comes out with revised or new tests. The Montana Office of Public Instruction announces changes to this list. Passing scores on discontinued tests will still be accepted as part of a licensure application for up to one year. Beyond that year, candidates must take the new test.
