Office of Student Enagement
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides and facilitates student engagement opportunities for MSU students through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. We are THE HUB for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and engaging in service to the community.

Early Alert
The early alert referral system allows you to request that a student attend a success advising appointment as soon as possible to address one or more of the following:
- Class attendance
- Test scores
- Homework assignments (incomplete or low grades)
- Lack of class interaction/engagement

MSU CARE: getting help for students
The MSU community is committed to creating a culture of support, which means that we acknowledge the different ways that students might encounter difficulty, reach out to provide support, and encourage getting help at one of the many agencies on campus that offer counseling or student support services.
Recognizing & Referring Students with Mental Health Needs
Faculty, advisors, and teaching assistants are often among the first to notice when
students struggle with personal or mental health issues. Here at MSU, 69% of students
reported that they would confide in an instructor/TA when these problems interfere

Student Safety
Campus Civil Rights
Montana State University is dedicated to ensuring an environment of non-discrimination and equal opportunity in its education programs and employment opportunities in compliance with state and federal laws. Campus Civil Rights supports any community member experiencing protected-class discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. Students, faculty, and staff can visit CCR to speak with a case manager or civil rights investigator, request training, or learn more about resources available on campus or in Gallatin County.
All University employees must report information about Discrimination based on sex and Sexual Harassment, as defined by this Policy, involving students to the Title IX Coordinator. This would include reporting incidents of dating or domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking. Reports can be filed directly with Campus Civil Rights at www.montana.edu/civilrights. If you have questions or if you would like to report directly over the phone, please call 406-994-2042.
Safe and Inclusive Working Environments for Off-Campus & Off-Site Research
MSU has created this institutional plan for off-campus and off-site research where such a plan is required by an awarding agency such as NSF. This plan establishes standards, education and communication expectations. MSU promotes environments of learning and research of high integrity and where respect and safety are at the forefront.
Mentorship Support
Mentorship encompasses all aspects of what we do at Montana State University from understanding the goals and wishes of freshman undergraduate students to guiding graduate students through their academic journey to enabling the success of early career faculty in pursuing excellence in scholarship and teaching throughout faculty careers.
Disability Services
The Office of Disability Services sets up accommodations to provide access to all college programs, services, activities and facilities for students with disabilities. Students wishing to access accommodations are required to notify faculty of any approved accommodations by presenting them with an accommodation notice generated from the Office of Disability Services and meeting with them during their office hours. Each student has an assigned accommodation specialist that you can consult with if you have questions about a particular student’s approved accommodations. You can contact us in person, by phone, or through email. We are located in 137 Romney Hall, our office number is 406-994-2824, and our email is Office of Disability Services disabilityservices@montana.edu. We encourage self-advocacy for students and connect them with resources and support services across campus to help them achieve their personal best.
Writing Center
The Writing Center is a resource available to ANY MSU student working on ANY writing. Their mission is to create a dynamic, collaborative environment that fosters and maintains a vibrant community of writers across the MSU campuses. Writing Center tutors meet individually or in groups with student writers of all abilities and backgrounds at any stage in their writing processes – from invention to revision. Writing Center staff are available to talk with faculty about building partnerships to support their teaching of writing.
Math and Stat Center
The Math and Stat Center is hosted in the Mathematical Sciences Department supports students as they develop learning skills required for their respective courses.
Accessibility for All
"Accessibility for All" supports Montana State University instructors and other academic employees making educational content accessible for students with disabilities. The program currently offers free online tutorials to help instructors make materials that meet WCAG 2.0 AA, the standard for accessibility at MSU.

Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons (DISC)
The Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons promotes inclusion and understanding of difference, supports students from underrepresented identity groups, and encourages critical thinking about diversity topics. They offer programs to help students make connections, find a rich community, and celebrate their cultures and identities.
Bounty of the Bridgers
The Bounty of the Bridgers Campus Food Pantry is a student-driven initiative to combat food waste and food insecurity on the MSU campus for students, faculty, and staff started in October of 2017. Our pantry is available to offer supplemental and emergency food assistance to any student, faculty, or staff in need! We have two convenient locations on campus to best serve our MSU Community that provide a variety of items to fit your needs.
