The Energy Research Institute involves an average of over 200 people annually in energy investigations in a wide variety of fields including basic energy science, bioenergy, fuel cells, smart grid and controls, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon sequestration. 

Alternative Energy Resources Organization (AERO)

AERO has a variety of projects, publications, and services related to:
•  Building with materials made of recycled substances and wood waste.
•  Non-chemical forms of weed control.
•  Building soil fertility using green manure and cover crops.
•  Renewable energy and conservation technologies for homes, farms, and small businesses.
•  Market possibilities for alternative crops and livestock products.

Montana Green Power

A project by the National Center for Appropriate Technology in Butte, Montana. This project explores what’s happening in solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources in Montana.

Holistic Management International

Holistic Management is a nonprofit organization working to advance the practice of holistic management.  Through educational programs they seek to produce stable environments and sound watersheds; restore profitability and sustainability to agricultural operations; improve the water resources of cities, industries and agriculture; increase wildlife species, numbers within species and the stability of wildlife populations; restore productivity and stability of riparian areas; prevent the waste of financial resources on faulty resource management practices; and increase citizen participation in sound resource management.
