Faculty Awards
Seven faculty members from the MSU-Bozeman College of Business were recently given awards and honors during the College of Business graduation ceremony. These endowed awards provide the faculty members with resource support and continuing education, which in turn directly benefits the students educational experience. Richard Semenik, Dean of the College of Business, gave these prestigious awards.
Bill Brown, associate professor of management, received the Bill and Reta Haynes Faculty Fellow Award. This award is given to a faculty member who has demonstrated sustained excellence in all phases of faculty performance related to teaching, research and service.
Bonita Peterson, associate professor of accounting, received the Scott and Barbara Heck Faculty Scholar Award. This is a new award set up to support the recipient's outstanding teaching performance and foster the sharing of educational experiences with students.
Sitki Karahan, professor of marketing, was the recipient of the Thomas Nopper Excellence in Teaching Award. This award is given annually to a faculty member who has made significant contributions to the teaching mission of the College of Business.
The College of Business students selected Bob Diggs, adjunct instructor of management, as the recipient of the Cellular One Students Choice Award for Excellence in Teaching. Diggs received a standing ovation from the students and audience.
In addition to these awards, the following faculty members were selected by fellow faculty members for special performance recognition awards:
The Dean's Endowment Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching was given to Dan Moshavi, assistant professor of management and an expert in human resource management.
The Dean's Endowment Award for Outstanding Performance in Research went to Clark Maxam, associate professor of finance, who is not only a faculty member in the College of Business but also holds the prestigious position as Director of Research and Portfolio Manager for New York Life Asset Management.
Finally, the Dean's Endowment Award for Outstanding Performance in Service went to Harry Benham, associate professor of management, who participated in the highly successful Accounting faculty search last year and is leading the College search for a new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
