Nolan PreeshlWe would like you to meet Nolan Preeshl ’14, an MPAc alum from Gildford, Montana, who is now a Senior FInancial Compliance Auditor for the Montana Legislative Audit Division in Helena, Montana.

Why MSU? He fell in love with Bozeman and MSU when he attended Montana 4-H Congress events held on campus through his years of participation in the 4-H program. Other factors in his decision were older friends who were currently going through the Accounting program, and they had nothing but fantastic words about the program and also the many skiing options near Bozeman. 

He found the Meet the Accounting Recruiters and Meet the Business Recruiters events to be very helpful. It allowed him to see the variety and sheer number of careers that were available to him and his fellow students. These events allowed him to build networking and interview skills, skills that he has now carried over into his career and use on the other side of the table when he comes back as a recruiter.

As a Senior Financial Compliance Auditor, Nolan and his co-workers are responsible for auditing every state agency (including universities), in Montana every two years. Their work also covers agency’s compliance with state laws and compliance with regulations for selected federal programs. Nolan says that the mission at the Legislative Audit Division is to increase public trust in state government by reporting timely and accurate information about agency operations, technology and finances to the legislature and the citizens of Montana. He believes the audit work he performs aligns with that mission and that they are a respected source of independent, accurate and reliable information that is available to both Montana’s legislators and its citizens.

When asked about his experience with our program, he says, “The MPAc program gave me, as well as many other students, a fantastic set of tools that enabled me to succeed professionally after my time as a student at MSU was over.”
