Dawson Dunning picks up 2 Telly Awards for Ceiba: Nature and the Maya Creation in the categories of Cultural Film and Cinematography.
This film was made with the Belize Institute of Archaeology and is about the wildlife in Maya culture as told through Maya creation stories and representations found at ancient Maya archaeological sites across Belize.

CEIBA relates the story of wildlife in the Quiche Maya creation myth and how nature is represented at archaeological sites and in Maya art across Belize, Central America. Narrated by a local Mayan elder, CEIBA explores a small slice of the world view of a diverse culture that is still very much alive. Following the adventures of the demigod Hero Twins as they avenge their father's death and prepare for the dawn of a new world, CEIBA highlights critically threatened species in Central America and how they relate to these tales of creation. |
