The following awards are selected through a single application process. The application

Erma Lessel Collins Junior Award
This award recognizes a new Mortar Board member who best exemplifies campus service and sorority activities. This award, given by her sons, honors Mrs. Collins who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1916 from Montana State College and her Masters in 1918 from Columbia University.
Erma Lessel Collins Senior Award
Originally the Five Year Speaker Award, this honor is presented to a senior woman
based upon leadership, scholarship, and contributions to Montana State University.
It is awarded in honor of Mrs. Collins, the first Woman’s Day speaker in 1924.
Ethelyn C. Harrison Award
Awarded to one senior woman who exemplifies service to others. This award is given in honor of the late Dean Emeritus Harrison.
Outstanding Freshman Leadership Award
Recognizes a freshman who demonstrates notable leadership skills and values.
Outstanding Freshman Service Award
Recognizes a freshman who demonstrates a commitment to community service.
Outstanding Sophomore Leadership Award
Recognizes a sophomore who demonstrates notable leadership skills and values.
Outstanding Sophomore Service Award
Recognizes a sophomore who demonstrates a commitment to community service.
Outstanding Junior Leadership Award
Recognizes a junior who demonstrates notable leadership skills and values.
Outstanding Junior Service Award
Recognizes a junior who demonstrates a commitment to community service.
Max Worthington Service Award
Awarded to a senior man whose service to Montana State University has exemplified leadership skills and service to others. This award is given in honor of Max Worthington, Dean of Students from 1964 to 1973.
Roland R. Renne Award
Presented to a senior who exemplifies the values of both leadership and service, and is presented in honor of Dr. Renne, President of Montana State University from 1943 to 1964.
Recognizes seven outstanding juniors, based upon extraordinary leadership and service to Montana State University.
Christy Foundation Scholarship
Awarded to students bringing special recognition to MSU based upon meritorious community leadership and service.
Una B. Herrick Award
Presented to a senior who exemplifies the values of leadership and service, and is presented in honor of the Dean of Women and the Founder of Women’s Day in 1923, now known as the Day of Student Recognition.
Val G. Glynn Award
Presented to a senior who exemplifies the values of leadership and service, and is presented in honor of Mr. Val Glynn, Dean of Students from 1948 to 1964.
The following awards will not be awarded:
ASMSU Peer Leadership Award- No longer awarded
Recognizes an outstanding student in both leadership and service values.
ASMSU Peer Service Award- No longer awarded
Recognizes an outstanding student in both leadership and service values.
Earlene Hart Memorial Scholarship- Not awarded in 2018
Awarded to a sophomore or junior majoring in Nursing or Foods & Nutrition. Given by the family of Mrs. Earlene Hart.
Roskie Memorial Scholarship- Not awarded in 2018
Awarded to an undergraduate student who exhibits outstanding leadership qualities. This award honors the late Dr. Gertrude Roskie, Dean of Professional Schools, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Haynes.
Alpha Lambda Delta Outstanding New Member-Not offered in 2018
Awarded to a student who showed great involvement in service among fellow initiates in Alpha Lambda Delta.
Alpha Lambda Delta Outstanding Academic Achievement-Not offered in 2018
Awarded to a student who shows great commitment to academics as well as leadership among fellow members.

Office of Disability Services:
Lawrence Hiller Scholarship-Will not be awarded in 2018
The Lawrence Hiller Scholarship Fund was established on December 31, 1981. The money was donated by Mr. Hiller’s family as a memorial to him. Mr. Hiller was a Montana farmer and rancher for many years and acquired a physical disability late in life. This scholarship is presented to students with physical disabilities.
Deadline: Not offered in 2018

Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons:
Cole Tierney Award-No longer awarded
Awarded to a current MSU student of African American heritage who exemplifies leadership, citizenship, and involvement.
Spirit Activism Award
The Spirit Activism Award is given to a current student who embodies leadership, citizenship and community involvement, demonstrating these characteristics through his/her achievements and work towards social justice.
Spirit Outstanding Student Award
The Spirit Outstanding Student Award recognizes a current student who embodies leadership, citizenship and involvement, and also identifies as a member of an underrepresented minority group.
Deadline: March 6th
President's Commission on the Status of University Women:
President's Commission on the Status of University Women
Honors students who have established a record of working to improve issues related to gender, equity, and diversity.
Deadline: Applications will close on February 21st, 2018
Nominations (including self-nominations) can be made by submitting name and a short (maximum of five sentences) reason for nomination to the Committee Chair, Betsy Danforth.
Honors College and the Modern Languages Department have their own selection process.
Honors College Exemplary Leadership Award
Awarded to a student who provides outstanding leadership and organization of University Honors College events and activities, and serves as a role model for Honors students.
Honors College Exemplary Service Award
Awarded to a student who contributes continued and voluntary service which benefits the University Honors College, Montana State University, and the Bozeman community.
Sue Burton Cannon Memorial Award
This award is given to an outstanding female student with Junior standing who is currently taking a Modern Languages class. The award was established by the Firehammer family in memory of Sue Burton Cannon’s spirit, eloquence, and love of knowledge. Mrs. Cannon taught in the department in the 1920's and after World War II. Criteria used in selecting a recipient include service to the department, academic performance, and service external to the department.
Steven L. Johnson Memorial Scholarship
This award is given to the most outstanding Spanish Teaching major. It was created in memory of Dr. Steven L. Johnson who was a dedicated scholar of Latin American Literature and one of our most promising young faculty members. This award not only recognizes academic success, but quality of character as well, reflecting the esteem of teachers and peers in the department.
Office of Student Engagement-Student Organization Awards
Student Organization Leader of the Year Award
Honors a leader of a registered student organization who displays outstanding organization, leadership and involvement.
Student Organization of the Year Award
Awarded to a current registered student organization that displays outstanding contributions to the MSU community, student members and fosters leadership within their organization.
Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award
Recognizes a current advisor of a registered student organization who displays outstanding support, assistance and investment in the student organization in which they advise.
